에이 - 멜팅 팟
<에이 – 멜팅 팟>은 아시아의 실험/즉흥/독립 음악의 음향적 네트워크를 만드는 프로젝트이다. 그 시작으로 중국/대만/인도네시아를 기점으로 활동하는 음악가/기획자를 초청하여, 아시아 속의 한국과 한국 밖의 아시아 실험/즉흥/독립 음악씬을 직접적으로 확인하고자 한다. 초청된 음악가/기획자 모두는 한 포지션에 집중되지 않고 필요에 따라 여러 가지 역할을 해내는 키퍼슨(Key-Person)으로, 선택된 키퍼슨들이 풀어내는 개별적인 역사/취향도의 포괄적인 결합을 통해 각국 실험/즉흥/독립 음악의 환경과 역사의 차이점들을 바라볼 수 있을 것이다. 전시는 9월 15일부터 9월 24일까지 10일간 진행되며, 전시 기간 동안 1회의 공연, 2회의 스크리닝, 2회의 토크 프로그램이 소개된다.
전시
중국, 인도네시아, 대만 참여작가의 2012년부터 현재까지의 활동이 전시된다. 사진에서 플라이어, 카세트테이프, 잡지 등 여러 가지 자료들이 국가에 상관없이 뒤섞여 전시되는 방식을 통해 아시아의 흐름이 자연스럽게 보여지길 바란다.

Indra는 Kongsi Jahat Syndicate의 공연 기획자이자 YK Bookings의 공연 에이전트, DoggyHouse 레코드의 총감독, Jogja Records Store Club의 감독, 그리고 Jogja Noise Bombing의 멤버이다. 소책자페어 Jogjakarta Zine Attak! 운영 외에도 음악전문지Shock & Awe, Warning Magazine에 기고 중이다.
Dawang Huang (黃大旺)
퍼포머
1975년 대만, 타이베이 출생. 10 대에 침실에서 녹음을 시작한 이래, 잉판 또는 검은 늑대 등의 다양한 별칭으로 작업을 진행해왔다. 펑크 밴드, 무용단, 재즈 연주자와 같은 다양한 장르의 아티스트와 공동 작업하며 대만의 언더그라운드 음악씬에서 독특한 인물이 되었다.
최준용
노이즈 음악가, 벌룬 앤 니들 운영자
최준용은 국내 최초의 노이즈 프로젝트인 Astronoise를 홍철기와 1996년에 결성하여 소리의 증폭과 물리성에 대한 탐구를 지금까지 해오고 있다. 주로 공간과 청취 행위 사이에서 일어나는 소리에 대한 인식과 그 열등함에 의문을 던지는 퍼포먼스를 진행하고 있으며, 즉흥이나 작곡의 방법으로 얻게 되는 연주의 통제와 실패에 관심을 갖고 있다. 2003년부터 즉흥음악 공연인 불가사리와 RELAY에 참가하며 국내외의 작가들과 협연을 해왔고 솔로로서도 시디플레이어의 오작동을 이용해 만든 DANTHRAX 등 5장의 음반을 발표하였다. 2000년부터 Balloon & Needle이라는 레이블에서 음반 디자인과 제작을 맡으면서 국내의 실험적인 음악을 해외에 소개하고 있다. 그 외에 SklavenTanz 멤버들과 결성한 둠 메탈 밴드인 '구토와 눈물(Vomit & Tear)'에서 베이스를 연주하고 있다.

대만의 사운드/퍼포먼스 아트의 광신자 황다왕 (Huang Da-wang)은 블랙 울프 (Black Wolf) 또는 잉판 - 살마나자르 (Yingfan-Psalmanazar)라고도 알려져 있다. 그는 즉흥적인 스타일의 전자 노이즈를 선보였으며 "Black Wolf Nakashi"라는 독특한 공연을 선보인다. 이 영화는 도시 속 그를 따라 소리에서 몸으로, 침실에서 폐허로 이어진다.

새롭게 주목 받고 있는 인도네시아의 노이즈/실험음악을 둘러싼 다큐멘터리 영화와 인도네시아 뮤지션의 노이즈음악 퍼포먼스. 소란스러움을 뜻하는 인도네시아어에서 유래한 다큐멘터리 영화 <비싱>은, 오랫동안 메인스트림 음악씬과는 별개로 지속되어온 인도네시아의 독자적인 실험음악씬에 주목한다. 노이즈뮤지션이기도 한 아디티아 우타마는 인도네시아 음악 산업의 어두운 단면을 조망하면서, 새로운 형식으로 음악과 마주하는 노이즈뮤지션들을 가감 없이 보여주고 있다.

A - Melting Pot
<A - Melting Pot> is a project to create a sound network of experimental / improvised / independent music in Asia. A celebration of the diversity and creativity of Asia’s experimental / improvised / independent music, featuring specially-invited musicians / presenters from China, Taiwan, and Indonesia.
All of the invited musicians / presenters are Key-Persons who do not only focus on one position, but perform various roles accordingly. This project will showcase a variety of experimental and improvised music and also promote the notion on independent spirit whilst showing appreciation for these musicians both as individuals and as collaborators. Through a comprehensive combination of individual histories / tastes released by the selected Key-person, you will be able to look at the differences in the music environment and history of each country. The exhibition will be held from Sep 15 to Sep 24 for 10 days. During the exhibition, one performance, two screenings and two talk programs will be held.
Exhibitions of artists from China, Indonesia and Taiwan will be on display from 2012 to the present. The Asian flow will be seen naturally through the way that various materials such as photographs, flyers, cassette tapes and magazines are displayed in a combination of countries.

Indra is active as a gig organizer, Kongsi Jahat Syndicate; booking agency, YK Booking; General Manager of DoggyHouse Records; Jogja Records Store Club’s director and member of Jogja Noise Bombing. Aside from zine exhibition, Jogjakarta Zine Attak!, he also writing in music magazines: Shock & Awe and Warning Magazine.
Dawang Huang (黃大旺)
Performer
Born 1975, Taipei, Taiwan. He started bedroom recordings in his teenage years and later performs under various alias (e.g. yingfan or Blackwolf, etc.) and collaborates with different genres of artists such as punk bands, dance companies, jazz groups. He became a unique figure in Taiwan's underground music scene.

Joonyong Choi
Noise musician, Balloon & Needle Co-founder
Joonyong Choi is from Seoul, South Korea. He founded Astronoise(the first noise project in Korea) with Chulki Hong in 1996, and has been playing so-called noise/experimental/improvised music since then. He usually plays playback devices such as CD-player, MP3-player, tape player, VCR, and loud-speaker by utilizing the fallacy to expose their innate sounds from the mechanism. He is involved in collaborations with other artists and released many albums including five solo albums such as Danthrax which is made with malfunction of CD-player. He is interested in control and failure of playing through improvisation and composition. Recently he is working on solo performances questioning the inferiority and perception of sound which changes according to the surrounding environment and context. He runs a label called ‘Balloon & Needle’ releasing experimental music from Korea and does the cover design for most of the releases since 2000. He also plays bass guitar in a doom metal band 'Vomit & Tear' with members of SklavenTanz.

Huang Da-wang, an extravaganza from Taiwan sound/ performance art scene, is also known as Black Wolf or Yingfan-Psalmanazar. He has developed a distinctive style of improvisation and electronic noise, and has a unique performance – the “Black Wolf Nakashi” show. This film follows him in the city, from sound to body, from bedroom to ruins.

A documentary film on Indonesian noise/experimental music that is recently under the spotlight and a noise music performance. The documentary film <Bising> which originates its title from the Indonesian word for 'noisy' or 'hectic' focuses on the original experimental music scene that has, for a long time, existed separately from the mainstream music scene. Adythia Utama who is also a noise musician candidly shows the noise musicians facing music in a new format while overlooking the dark sides of the Indonesian music industry.
